Jason Owens
Hello! I’m Jason, Equipping Pastor for Discipleship. I’m excited to share with you a little of my story and family because it’s a small part of God’s story.
I am married to Erin for 14 years – although she has put up with me for 18 years! We have 3 children. The first is our 26 year old named Tyler, who is adopted but we love him just the same. Sophia is our oldest still living with us and she is 7. She loves many things but especially that she gets to be the big sister for her 4 year old brother, Elijah!
I enjoy playing music, watching/playing most sports, reading, building, and being outside in the incredible world God has given us to steward.
At 6 years old I began to understand Jesus as my savior but it didn’t have great impact in my life. In high school I encountered Jesus more personally, as my Lord, seeking to honor him more in everything. In this season I first felt a call into ministry and I met an amazing woman at McMurry University (where I received my undergraduate education) who would eventually be my wife. Finally, in my early to mid 20’s I was introduced to greater depths of the Holy Spirit freeing me and walking with me in every moment. Here Jesus became my life. At this time Erin and I both attended Asbury Theological Seminary and received our MDiv degrees but, more importantly, learned how to be yoked to Jesus.
Now, I reognize following Jesus is not often easy and pastoral ministry can be especially challenging but, the Spirit has shown me how to be yoked to Him and let him carry the weight. I have been in paid ministry for 18 years but, only for 10 of those have I been walking lightly because of learning to be yoked to my lifesource in Jesus.
I am not perfect but, Jesus is perfecting me. My prayer is that as I walk through life, anybody who comes into contact with me will see and or experience the love and power of Jesus first-hand.
If you ever want to chat – come by my office, contact me personally, or find me out in our community! It would be a gift to walk with you in whatever season you find yourself.
In Christ,
Jason
